About the artwork
Rugged cliffs and rocks step down toward a sandy cove, where white surf runs along the shoreline. The painting uses confident brushwork to suggest texture in stone and grass. Bright blues in the water contrast with the earthy greens and browns of the land, giving the scene a lively balance. The sky stays open and pale above the headland.
